nana's minestrone

my nana makes fabulous comfort foods. when my older sister got married, she asked for nana to put together all of her recipes in a book for her (or at least that's how i think the story goes). so i asked for a copy, and in the book was nana's prized recipe for minestrone. it was always one of my favorite dishes of hers. while i've made a couple of adjustments to the recipe (i.e., no bacon since daryn and i don't eat meat, and i also add some potato), every single time i make it i'm transported to her house in cedar rapids. eating nana's minestrone is such a wonderful treat in so many ways! yum!
